Meharry Medical College Chapter of Student National Dental Association (SNDA) is determined to combat the oral health disparities that exist in underserved populations, while aiding in the advancement of minority students in the dental profession. Lack of dentists, primarily in underserved areas is a major reason why oral diseases such as periodontitis (a chronic gum disease) affects up to 50% of our population. In addition, this egregious disease leads to a 19% increase in the risk  of cardiovascular disease, which is the leading cause of death in the U.S. (Nazir, 2017). As a college and non profit student organization we strive to combat these problems affecting our country and fulfill our calling/moto which is, "Worship of God Through Service to Mankind."

 

We support our peers with the opportunity to change their lives by connecting them to all areas of dentistry. We facilitate a caring environment focused on student success while engaging our community.
